Hello,

My college roommate finally gave up on California and is moving to Houston at the end of the month. He landed a job just north of I-10 and the Beltway. He wants to stay in a hotel for a couple of months until he sees a future in his new job, gets situated in a new city, etc.

I've lived here almost 8 years but don't have the slightest idea of which "extended stay" type of hotel to recommend. He's looking for something "safe", within 10 miles of his job.

Thanks for any advice....

when i traveled for my previous job they always had us in extended stay hotels. we were almost required ( i guess you could say) to only stay at marriotts, but they were damn good hotels! i would go for a residence inn, which will have oven/stove kitchenette setup while also serving breakfast every morning and dinner from mon-thurs.

they could be on the pricier side unless you can negotiate a price, but if thats out of budget another good one is towneplace suites which is also a marriott property and they often have dinner mon-thurs as well.

Thank you for all the replies. He was able to book something around Westheimer/Bltw 8. He said this type of accomodations are booked solid. I guess all those people moving in need to stay somewhere....
