Hello to all,

I will be moving to Houston in September. I am a RN who will be working in the Medical Center, unfortunately I work 12hrs . I am in need of child care that stays open til 8:30 or 9pm. I haven't decided on housing but I have been looking for rentals in Sugarland, Pearland, and Missouri City. I have 1 child that will be in day care and my other 3 children are in elementary school. Are there any child care centers with extended hours or should I look into hiring someone?

Thank you for your time.

I live in a different part of town, so maybe there are some places in the area you're looking.

But we're expecting a child in October and all the day cares (at least 10 so far) we've seen close no later than 6:30 (most by 6).

Perhaps you can ask your employer what other employees do. You can't be the only RN with this concern.

Another resource you might consider exploring is the Motherhood Center. Services for Pregnant & Expecting Mothers in Houston Texas They offer nanny/babysitting services (I assume the prices are marked up for their screening and matchmaking, but I don't know...), but I've found they are a good starting place for information.

Hi,
There is a daycare that is open all day and all night in Pearland. It's also very close to the 288.
Taking Kidz Places: PlayCare

I don't have any experience or know anybody that does with this center.

Good luck!

I had good luck finding a nanny through Care.com. A friend of mine used the nanny service at the Motherhood Center but didn't like any of the candidates she was matched with; she ended up hiring someone through Care.com also.

Thank you for the recommendations. I will be visiting the area next weekend to look at rentals. I will also stop by the child care center in Pearland. I have heard of care.com but didn't know of anyone who used the services.

Thanks
