We are moving to TX from AZ. Here my 3yo son goes to a special education preschool for speech and occupational therapy. He has epilepsy, a qualifying condition under the IDEA Act. I can't find much information about the PPCD. We are looking at living in Alief or around there. Which district is the best for PCCD that is on the west side of Houston (between Katy and Pearland)?

From what I've been told, Katy has a very good one.

If you live in Alief, you will have to attend school in that district. They have a good Special Ed. program, but I wouldn't be comfortable with my children attending many of their schools. Rees, Petrosky, and the one by River Oaks are the exceptions. The middle schools are all terrible, as are the high schools. (Exception: Kerr High school)

Katy has a good but not great Spec Ed. program. I would say they have the better program for the far out suburbs in that area. The best elementary in the area is Alexander, but I don't think they have PPCD. The principal and staff are the best in Katy. (I never taught there, but know many who work there. They have lots of experience and training. )

HISD is hit or miss. If you get into the program at TH Rogers, it is excellent. It is a campus by campus difference, as some campuses are excellent.

Spring Branch ISD has the best program in the Houston Area, but it is pricy to live there. There are some decent schools north of I10, but it is hit or miss. The PK centers are fantastic.

Pearland and Friendswood have a good reputation, but I don't have firsthand experience there or know teachers who taught there.
