Hello, I am moving to Baytown in the next few months (around January / December).

Can someone familiar with the area provide me with some advice on the following...

1) Looking for an area with an under 45min commute (Deer Park / Channelview / Clearlake / Humble?)
2) A nice newer apartment near places to eat / drink in evenings

Thanks for any advice. From the west side of Houston, so I am not familiar with what sections are good to live in and not live in!

Where will you be working? If you need to commute to Deer Park/Channelview/Clear Lake there's no reason to live in Baytown.

If you're working in Baytown then live in Baytown. It's not a bad place to be. There are a lot of neighborhoods throughout the city and/or apartment complexes that range from scary to very nice.

Mont Belvieu is the popular white-flight suburb with good schools and churches. It's about 10-15 mins east on I10

I'm going to save you from doing something extremely stupid - DO NOT MOVE TO BAYTOWN! I lived in clear lake from 2006-2011, and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, I spent 2011-2013 living in Baytown, and absolutely hated it. We spent more time in humble and clear lake than we did in Baytown(over those two years). We lived in the nicest and newest apartments in Baytown, but the tenants were a major issue. Clear Lake and Humble are WORLDS ahead Baytown, don't make the same mistake I did. I live just south of Atascocita now, and really love the area. Hell, even Deer Park is a major improvement over Baytown.

Is there any issues with Deer Park as opposed to Clear Lake?

I have heard many people say to not live in Baytown. Deer Park seemed, commute wise, the shortest / nicest place to live.
