Nearly a decade since this thread was started and 45 (N or S, doesn’t matter) is still clearly the ugliest highway in the city. Embarrassing is right

Pretty much every freeway in the city needs to be beautified as long as you have the money to do it. The southwest freeway in the inner loop looks the nicest and I-10 where you see the downtown skyline would be the smartest to improve strategically if you were willing to tear down some of those storage buildings.

That's generally people's first impression of Houston.

They should just build taller walls along side some of the freeways.

Huh??? 45S has been redone and still in the process of being redone all the way to Galveston. The portions they have finished running through Clear Lake are nice. I drive it daily.

Was mainly referring to the stretch of 45S between Hobby and Downtown. The views of DT are decent, but apart from that, it's ugly and unfortunately is a bad first impression for visitors/tourists arriving at HOU.

Oh. I drive that one weekly and I have no words for that stretch. It's all the infrastructure along the feeder roads that's in terrible shape.

And billboards. Think twice about supporting a company that uses that visual litter as a way to advertise.
