I have no experience in fishing! I have never done fishing in my life! I don't even have any fishing equipment!

I am interested in giving a try! I am trying to find a place where I can catch fish easily (beginner) also so I can eat the fish. I have seen many people fishing on Galveston piers but is that safe to eat.

Also, the place should also BBQ or grilling fishes that I catch (if I catch!). I am not sure you can BBQ or grill on Galveston.

Make sure you get a fishing license first so that you don't get a pricey ticket.

Are there places that do not require fishing license?

Just go to the gulf (stay away from Texas City area), and get a license. The license is cheap ($10-20$ for a one day license), and can be bought at many places on the gulf.

Galveston has a couple of good offshore charter companies, where you WILL catch MANY fish during the day. Just google them.

Would love to hear about any freshwater locations. I want to plan some fly fishing trips with my Dad.

You can start in any pond doing fish and release
I'm at the point where I got good at it, and now I'm ready to move somewhere in the gulf to try to get a big fish.

A friend of mine fishes right below the Lake Livingston dam fairly often, and he really enjoys going there.

You might also check some of the local fishing forums to get a better idea of what fish can be found where and what bait or technique is the best for that type of fish and location.

Jimmies fishing pier in Galveston is good. I see people catching fish there all the time. If you have never fished before are you sure your ready to fillet and bbq a fish? Its a talent learned and on the first go round you may end up with lots of bones and very little meat.

Yes its safe to eat...most of the GOOD oysters, shrimp and snapper you eat in local restaurants serve seafood from the Gulf.
