So the Coogs are now 5-0 after upsetting Memphis today. The attendance today was abysmal and the Coogs deserve a whole lot better this season. There are approximately 160,000 UH Alumni in Houston and we can barely fill up a 40,000 seat stadium. If we want to be in a "Big name Conference", there needs be more support from Alumni.

I was there! Great game. I hope the new stadium is setup similarly to BBVA.

It should be. They both have that modern architectural design to them. Thanks for coming out and supporting the coogs! Hope you can make it to the BYU game next Saturday

Well, I see more coverage of HS football on local TV than UH-Rice football
I guarantee that's why

UH will probably never draw huge crowds. It's not a flagship and sports don't seem to be a huge deal in Houston, no matter the team.

Sports dont seem a big deal in houston.... where are you living? Rosharon? West Louisiana? UH still feels like a city college. Its a commuter college that is now reaching its prime. I went there for a 2 yr masters program and saw nothing but my parking lot and specific building. Theres a good number of people doing the same. If the team continue to be awesome that would change. I dont even remember if they are still playing in the same conference. Out of usa would be good if they havent pulled that off already. Rice isnt a football school. No one goes to rice to play or watch football. Im sure the students have fun but to pull outsiders/alum in?

I agree. The local media devotes most of it's sports coverage to high school and pro football. Rarely do they cover the area colleges. It's hard for the alumni to get excited about their school winning when they don't even hear about it.

Where are all the UH alumni? LOL. They were probably somewhere watching the Texas/OU game. UH is largely a commuter school so that 160K number is misleading. Commuter schools' students and alumni lack the connection to the university that other schools have.

If you're alumni, you shouldn't need the news to tell you that your own school is winning.

Yes, everyone was suprised by Texas win. I doubt they can pull it off again. UH is slowly changing and I hear third ward is already going through gentrification. There are 8,008 students living on campus so that's a start.
