Harris County Commissioners Court has voted to place a plan to renovate the Dome on this Novembers ballot. It will include a provision to raise property tax assessments in Harris County by 1/2 cent. which means the average 200k Homestead in Harris county will pay an estimated additional $8 per year in property taxes. Knowing this how do you plan to vote on the Dome initiative? For) means renovating the Dome and increasing Harris County property assessments. Against) means pushing the decision back on Commissioners Court with no other plan on the ballot.

Some on the Court have said defeat of this plan will result in the eventual tearing down of the Dome, others have said that is not the case. So it is unclear what a defeat will mean.

I will be voting no on this idiot re-development plan for the dome. We don't need two damn convention spaces in the city , a waste of tax payer money. Hopefully it will lose at the ballot box and that will give the backbone for the politicians to tear that damn thing down!

This is actually just expanding one of our two convention centers. I am curious to see if it passes. I think this thing is just going to be a money sink.

I vote no. Tear it down. If they have to have another convention center put it Downtown or Uptown or even Greenspoint because it's near the big airport.

Now if a casino was an option I would say keep the dome and put a casino in there. But that will probably never happen in my lifetime so just go ahead and tear that eyesore down.

The problem is tearing it down will still need a tax increase as the cost to tear it down is astronomical being so close to Reliant.

A transit system is necessary unlike a convention center. That is like saying roads are money pits. The police and fire department are also money pits.
