Just seeing if anyone is familiar w/ West Medical Center located on Richmond Ave. I have an upcoming interview with HR and I had not heard of this hospital till i was doing a job search. .....I understand these professions are in high demand, but I am ALWAYS seeing open positions for nursing, physical therapist, occupational therapist, respiratory therapist so it made me go hmmm about the turn over rate.... so I'm curious if anyone has any insight about this health organization. or if it's one of those "don't work for them"

In my opinion, West Houston Medical Center is a great place -- for patients. I've been in there quite a few times, usually recovering from surgeries, over the past few years. I will tell you, though, that I've never met a nurse or an aide there, either in the ICU or in the regular rooms, who was pleasant. They all seemed to have a chip on their shoulders -- and not because of anything I did. So I've always presumed that the workload and stress must be tremendous.

That doesnt apply to the physical/occupational therapists. They visited me after my stroke surgery and they were always very pleasant.

And I'll add that the physical/occupational therapy center that's part of the West Houston Medical complex (but is located in a separate building around the corner on West Houston Medical Blvd) is staffed with therapists who all seemed to be very happy with their jobs. I went there every day for 7 months and never saw anyone who wasnt smiling and pleasant.
