Default HISD cancelled classes today.

'Just got an automated phone call from HISD, all schools and offices are closed today. Normal after school sports activities are still on. My kids will be happy, but we won't be.... this means they have to give up another day somewhere.

Im sure all of the school districts that have cancelled classes today will make it up come the Presidents Holiday. That's the only logical day that it can be done

Who the hell designed Houston's highway like a damn roller coaster?
It's not that people in Houston can't drive.... the problem is that some genius thought it was gonna be a great idea for a city's highway system to have a million overpasses and make it looks like a roller coaster.

I drove for years with snow on St. Louis and Kansas City's highways, which are flat and roads go over the highway instead of the other way around.
No way in hell I'm gonna drive on Houston's roller coaster highway with ice on it.

This weather is a rarity in these parts... I'd rather have the freeways above the intersections myself, but I agree, the humps do cause problems even on hot days because people slow down because they can't see. I recall HWY6, Barker-Cypress, Mason, Fry, 99 (pre freeway) all going over I10 and the traffic sucked even worse.

Back on topic... I've been getting caught up on office work all morning and I've been seeing the temperature continuing to fall from my weather station at home. The streets are wet, more ice will form from the looks of it. I think lots of businesses will also be closed today. I am sure all the people from up north are laughing at us now as this is nothing to them.

Uh, it's that people can't drive too. Houston does have a lot of rollercoastery overpasses and such but people cannot drive. At all.

Yep Hit my alarm, checked my phone and rolled back over. But now that I've had 7 hours of sleep I'm wide awake.
