President to spend Wednesday night in Houston; several downtown streets closed | khou.com Houston

The President will be in town today and tomorrow for a DNC fundraiser and several thousand people will have to adjust their commute due to street closures and longer travel times. Most of the Park and Ride buses are affected so make sure you check before leaving today or heading out tomorrow

It's true when any president travels regardless of party.

Edit: Sorry if this post appeared to be a little snide. I read about this in the paper and a few people were making a big deal that it was President Obama inconveniencing people as though it wasn't typical for any president.

After reading your post again, I realized you were just posting it to be informative.

I've chosen to leave up my initial comment for anyone who tries to make this sound like Obama is doing something different.

Presidents and presidential candidates (of either party) should stay where ever it is that spawns them and leave us alone.

Uh... good for Harris County? I wouldn't be any less irate about getting caught in traffic for President Generic Republican than for President Obama. The point is that Presidents and presidential candidates inconvenience a lot of people and cost a lot of tax dollars when they visit - doesn't matter if they are Republican or Democrat.

The president of the United States is the leader of this country, and a lot more important than any of us... if Houston (or any city) needs to briefly shut down a few streets to ensure his safety on a visit, then so be it. Democrat or Republican.

No he is not more important. He is just a man. A pos man but just a man.

Some roads downtown are blocked. Mainly inbound near Federal bldg.

He is probably threatening jobs or school funding if we build the pipeline.

Exactly. Our politicians should be scrutinized and ridiculed - not turned into neo-royalty. They work for us.
