Then it should be pretty easy to find some comparable houses that sold, and take those to the County at the appeal meeting.

The board is made up of homeowners, not county flacks. If you present reasonable information, they'll agree with you.

So I filed the online protest, provided my HUD-1 and a number of documents citing that, at the very least, I was one of the highest $/sq ft on my street (by $5-15, not much but still something). No official response from FBCAD but now my online datasheet for the property has the assessed/market values listed as "Unavailable". Progress (I guess?)

Ft Bend County has started responding to protests.

Got mine in today. Very happy.

Good luck to those that protested.

Did you all get a hearing date? I called O'Conner to protest for us but I can't find a scheduled hearing date yet.

If you don't mind sharing, how much or what % did they come down from their initial appraisal value to their settlement offering?

We built our home last year and closed at $325k; this year, FBCAD appraised us at $381k - I'm thinking we should be closer to $340-350k tops.

Just trying to get a feel for what settlement they might offer.

They came down on our house about $50k from their initial appraisal value. It's a new area with all new homes so it was hard for them to get proper sq footage, rooms, etc.

You should utilize your closing statement as that will help you.

Thank you. We're in the same boat - lots of new builds in our section of the neighborhood.
