Exactly!

If your husband is a process technician, then jobs for him will be concentrated in the east/south east side where there are a lot of refineries and related industries. Let's say he lands a job in Texas City. He would hate life if he has to drive back and forth to Cypress or Katy.

There are lots of large hospitals and nice neighborhoods in the south east side of the metro area. You two shouldn't have too hard of a time finding a fair compromise that fits the both of you.

Most process jobs are going to be on the east or the south areas. Unfortunately, the North (to me) is more desirable as I do not want to be on the coast... However, the plants are closer to the coast (ship channel, Freeport, Texas City, etc) typically. If he is a process technician- I am guessing he will be working 12 hour shifts (I used to be an operator)- so depending on where he locates a job will depend on where is a good area to look into as Houston area is HUGE and the amount of driving you will do is a lot more than most places. The last thing I wanted when I was coming off of nights of running the units was to drive more than 30 minutes back home.

There are lots of options for working at a hospital as there are many smaller branches of the bigger hospitals popping up everywhere- so that should be fairly easy for you to find in most places.

I can give you some suggestion since I lived in most of these places during 25years. But like other said you need have the work location first.
