Head east on I-10 for Louisiana. About 2 hrs to the nearest depending on where you start from.

Check out Coushatta in Kinder,Louisianna. Its only 2 hrs and to ride the bus from Houston is only between $8 and $12.00 round trip.

Coushatta it is to far to go for a day trip it is about 2hr 45min one way & once you crosser over into Louisiana there is really nothing other than Lake Charles. If your doing the driving you should spend the night at the hotle casino, if your not doing the driving you need to leave about 7am & return about 10pm bus trip is worth it.

Who needs a casino here when you gamble every time you get on the freeway?

Check the Google ad for Harrah's just below your original post. They have a hotel/casino located at a racetrack in LA.

I may be wrong, but I think the Harrah's in Lake Charles never opened again after Rita.

I'm fairly certain that the nicest casino in Louisiana within a normal driving distance of Houston would be this one: L'Auberge du Lac Casino Resort: Lake Charles Louisiana Casinos & Resorts

Gambling is illegal in Texas, not counting the lottery and stuff.
Go 2 or 3 hours east on the I-10, you'll see a few casinos.

I do believe there is a casino in Eagle Pass TX.

Texas should just get with the program and have some casions. They're missing out on some good revenue for the state.
