They pay and treat their mostly immigrant staff very poorly Many don't speak English or know their rights and so they are badly exploited by Houston Garden Centers. Also, they are usually unable to discuss the plants, give any advice regarding them, or help the customer with anything other than loading their cars.

A tree or plant is a long-term investment. Buy from a reputable, knowledgable seller.

Houston Garden Center has a bad reputation among serious gardeners for their lack of advice regarding the best selection or optimal conditions to grow their products. No one at any Houston Garden Center site has ever been able to discuss any plant or tree any time I’ve inquired.
Houston Garden Centers hire mostly immigrants whose English is not fluent and who are unaware of their rights (to minimum wage, to overtime, to lunch breaks, even to humane treatment) and they exploit this.
A plant or a tree can be a beneficial long-term investment. Buy from a knowledgeable, reputable seller.
