My new neighbor bought the house from the former owner, completely remodeled the property and is now one of the better looking house on the block. However, I found out that he did all the remodeling without a permit and i just saw it on HCAD that his property is appraised for only 65k vs the average of the block which is about 200-300k.

How do i report this without giving my personal info to HCAD?

Just Google search the KGB and locate the number. I'm sure the government will appreciate you reporting him.

You mind your own business. If he did not need to do plumbing/electrical/structural - no permit is needed and only a jerk would try to raise his neighbors assessed value.

Why do you hate your new neighbor? Why do you feel its your job to butt into his life?

Exactly my thoughts. Have no idea why someone would be so bothered.

If you really want to do this, call and ask them what to do. Don't be surprised if they are too dumbfounded to respond.

Just as i expected.

Judge me however you want, but I believe the society will do better if everyone pays their share of contribution. I pay my full share of income and property tax, do not reap more than what I put in. As evil as it may sound, if your new neighbor drives a new BMW, have kids go to expensive private schools, and tells you how they enjoy all the welfare programs they qualify, ie EIC, foodstamps, medicare, etc. How would you feel?

Not trying to be Robin Hood. To me, cheating the system is like stealing from a supermarket, would you report if you see that happens? May not someone stealing from Walmart or Costco? But what if someone steals from your store? better yet, steal from your bank account?
