I am needing some help. We are remodeling our kitchen and bathrooms and are looking for a counter top. We really like Quartz but it is pricey. Does anyone have any opinions on the two? Also, what is a good price point for each? Any recommendations on where go to get it. Thanks for your help.

Is there a reason why you prefer Quartz over Granite? (eg: Looks, hardness, designs, etc.)

FYI: Except for the geological "granite" (true granite), the decorative stones often called granite have quartz in them. Most decorative stone "granites" are basically the slabs that are used for countertops, table tops, etc.. (Granite: Igneous Rock - Pictures, Definition & More)

Granites come in various prices depending on their designs, thickness (2 cm and 3 cm), difficulty during cutting, style of cut/edging, fabrication & installation.

Quartz is a man made product. Granite natural.

Quartzite is my favorite.

Quartz is much more durable, it is not porous and does not need yearly care the way granite does.

We're doing a kitchen remodel, going with quartz, better product and more modern look, IMHO.

Silestone! It's engineered Quartz with built-in Microban protection. It's only slightly more expensive than granite slab.

I have Silestone and I love it but I get sick of being asked why I didn't 'spend the extra to get granite'. A lot of people still assume it's cheaper and of lesser quality than granite which is really annoying.

It used to be a bit cheaper. Not so much anymore.

As far as quality...they obviously have a lot more control over the quartz as it's a man made product.

We really prefer the look to Quartz. I like the low upkeep with Quartz. A lot of the granite we looked at was nice but had a very different colored vain running thru it. We liked the HanStone Maple Canyon but it was close to 6k. That was more than we were looking to spend.

Just redid my kitchen and we went with granite. We preferred the look over the other materials.
