For at least a couple of the beaches, on the Galveston website it says "Camping Prohibited 12am - 5am."

Does that mean the beaches are closed altogether during those hours?

No they just do not want people sleeping on the beach. Why are thinking about camping on the beach??

Nah I'm just kind of a night owl. I moved here recently and thought it would be fun to wander the beach in the wee hours and maybe do some shell collecting.

The main thing is the curfew if anyone with you is under 18 you can't be out on the beach after midnight 2 years ago me and some friends rented a beach house out in Gulf Palms on the west end and one of us was under 18 and well the cops literally comb the beaches of the island about 11 pm and inform you of the curfew then they comb it again after midnight and from what we were told as long as you are either a resident or staying in a house or hotel on the island and over 18 they won't really bother you much.
