Any updates on the neighborhood? Any new developments or retail going in in the area?

My wife and are have our eye on this neighborhood. We like the closer in location and the fact that they are putting in an elementary school in the neighborhood.

Haven't noticed any new retail coming to the area, I'll keep an eye out for you. The whole area is growing rapidly. I might stroll out that way this weekend and check the area out. I'll let you know.

There is a lot going on in the Fall Creek area. There is some good news in that Fall Creek has purchased the neighboring "Eagle Creek" property. The plans for the Eagle Creek section include a new recreation center near the lake, 2 soccer fields and 2 baseball fields along with hiking and biking trails. This will be great!

Here are the links to several site plans for the area. This link is for the Walmart side: http://www.read-king.com/Flash/PDF/parklakes_package.pdf (broken link)
This one is for the new Eagle Creek area: http://www.read-king.com/Flash/PDF/parklakes_eagle.pdf (broken link)

I hope this information helps. We have seen a recent increase in home sales in Fall Creek. Last year around this time, there were 12 homes for sale in our section of FC. Now there are only two. I spoke to one of the new home builders two weeks ago and they said business is going great. I think the addition of the new elementary school (although it's not complete) has helped increase sales.

I could see how Fall Creek would catch on. Its a lot closer in than some most of the xburbs. I think people are starting to get sick of the hour + commutes to places like The Woodlands and Kingwood. Summerwood is another place I think could really catch fire. That one is even inside the Beltway.

These neighborhoods are nice. But in all honesty, I am waiting to see what happens during a serious flood. That area has long been almost wetlands, one reason why development probably took so long. I noted that lots of soil was hauled in and the houses built up, but I still have to wonder. If you ever saw the land before it was developed, you would have noted the standing water and thick palmetto growth associated with the area. During Allison that area was pretty much inundated and I have seen Beltway 8 at Garner's Bayou flooded on several occassions in the past. The property on the east side of Garner's Bayou (South of Bltwy 8 including the area just between Lockwood and the new school) IS managed wetlands owned by Harris County Flood Control. The future will be interesting.

I agree. This is why we chose to live in Fall Creek over The Woodlands. Having such long commute times really diminishes your quality of life. My husband made it to work (downtown) in 18 minutes this morning (he timed it because he left at 7:00 instead of 7:30). Not bad. Also, I wanted to point out that Fall Creek is inside the beltway and Summerwood is just outside of the belt. Both are great locations for those who work downtown or near IAH. ~K~

Not bad??!? That's excellent!

The only way you can make it to downtown in 20 minutes from the northern Clear Lake region is on a Sat/Sun before noon! 30 to the Galleria. It would be nice if 45 (both sides) flowed like Eastex.

Well, part of the reason for why the Eastex, relatively speaking, flows so well is because the NE quadrant is the least populated (and it also helps that the Eastex was reconstructed so that on-ramps and exit ramps don't jam up like they do on the Gulf Freeway).

18 minutes is sure a better drive than an hour and 15 to The Woodlands on a good day. Keeps more people off the freeways. That would be a great location for those working in TMC too.
