These pics were taken using a hand phone.

I would petition the authorities to remove the hoardings around 10/45/59 areas in the downtown..Its such a nice view and some obscure hoarding would obstruct..

And now along 45 North 49B exit, there is an apartment that comes up at a stones throw along the freeway..

Long before this happens, the city ought to install reflective lane markers on every road. And cover or install barriers alongside the ditches bordering so many roads.

I like the idea but only in certain area. As boring as it sounds, I like the clean look most of the newer interchanges have.

I do too, kinda. I don't think it should be done all at once but more of a years long project. Newer bridges can be left as is and then made over once signs of age start showing.

How about also painting all of those old homes that line freeways and major roads?

Art is an extremely personal thing.

One persons art is another persons trash.

Stanley Marcus had a few things to say about public art. He preferred gardens. eVerybody likes flowers.

He's a Dallasite, so his opinion shouldn't count here. More flowers would also be an improvement, though.

But architecture is art, too, and in that case there's a lot of trash around Houston.

A good friend worked for a firm who did stadiums, shopping centers, public spaces. He said the word was Houston and Dallas was a contest where the winners and losers all got to put up their buildings.

Too many conservative thinkers here. Would be nice to see more art as the op suggested in the city. You see it all over in cities like SF,Miami,NYC, hell even ATL has a little more flare in that department then Houston.

Except I certainly don't want Houston to be like any of those cities (okay, it should be a little more like Miami). The art should reflect the local culture and the people that live there. I don't remember seeing a great deal of that in Atlanta.

Why are you in Georgia, btw?
