What are some of the nicer areas in Houston that have some diversity? To be clear by upper I mean folks earning 100k+. For diversity just looking for 5-10% (or more) minority presence.

I doubt there is a neighborhood in Houston that doesn't have at least a 5% "minority" presence, that includes River Oaks, Memorial or even West University.

Haha thats awesome! I knew Houston was diverse in general but nice! West U is actually spot on but out of my range for now. So what are the most diverse areas inside the 610 loop?

What type of housing are you looking for? SFH? Townhome? Highrise?

SFH or TH for 2 adults + 2 kids. My priority is to be in a nice area with above average elementary schools.

What is your price range? As others have said, West U and areas around the medical center are fairly diverse with good schools and high income residents.

I'd look around the Med Center--Poe, Roberts, Twain. Bellaire is also worth checking out--Horn capture zone. Slightly outside of the loop is Kolter. All very good elementary schools with reasonable to very good middle school options--and not too far from good private options should you decide to look in that direction.

So what kind of minority presence do you need?
In general in the US, minority = not white.
But in Houston, white = minority.

You should consider Willowbend. It is just outside 610 but has an excellent elementary school (Red Elementary), is about 2/3 white and 1/3 minority, and has an excellent location to everything in Houston (5-7 minutes to the Galleria Area, 10 minutes to Greenway Plaza, 10 minutes to the Medical Center, 15 minutes to downtown or midtown). Houses are roughly between the upper 300's and lower 600's.
