I took my wife (native Houstonian) to Tennessee last year for the 4th of July, she said it was first time she had ever seen them.

We live in Fulbrook out in Fulshear and back up to Bessie Creek and have seen them all the time this summer.

I was born and raised in New York City and would see them all the time in the summer evenings.

I've never seen any lightning bugs flying around here

I have, however, had the pleasure of experiencing a flying COCKROACH in my living room 3 days ago

This thread reminds me of this place close to Mexico City (Firefly sanctuary), it's beautiful and have never seen so many.

Yep, one of the perks of living WAY out there (Fulshear) is that I get to see fireflies all the time. Our kids love them!

I know this doesn't really count, but we see them every night in Brenham.

Houston? Can't remember the last time I saw them. 1964 maybe?
