Are these type of condo developments popular around Houston? I love these row homes in the pic, I visited in December and it gave me a NOLA vibe in some parts! Just thought i'd share and see what people would say.

That cheap, cookie cutter knockoff vibe is found all over the city and suburbs.

The density is good but the setback from the street and the long driveway is very suburban. Also yeah, there's tons of those all over the city.

Take a look at Google Streetview and look around the Heights, and you'll find lots of NOLA style homes. The ones in your link aren't particularly attractive, but there are many that are VERY nice. One of my pastimes is looking at Streetview. It's amazing what you can find.

Funny you mentioned that, I kept browsing the Heights area and found better street fronts, with more unique housing styles all around this part of Houston. I also found Montrose very eclectic and interesting as far as housing and surrounding arts and cafes go.

I love the glorious megastrips of the freeways. All of us should read "Learning From Las Vegas".

Those homes' style in the Heights can be found in various states of disrepair all over Texas. All the major cities (except El Paso) have them, and that style goes all the way down to McAllen, up to Laredo, Del Rio and Odessa. I can list half a dozen things that are different about these homes than "NOLA style" ones.

Has anyone ever been over to the north shepherd area around garden oaks? Really nice area with a lot of unique homes and retro architecture from the 70s.

That retro 70s architecture can be found in many places such as Sharpstown, Meadows Place, the west part of Memorial, a big part of the Clear Lake area... and Alief for the miniature versions. It is more cookie cuttery and the build quality for the most part leaves a lot to be desired. Hence the tear down & rebuild mentality.
