We've narrowed our list down to two pool builders- Precisions Pool and Spa and Platinum Pools. I know that building a pool can be a nightmare so any personal experience with either of these builders will help me to make my final decision and will be much appreciated.

Stay away from Platinum Pools. My neighbor had a total disaster with them. 5 years later and their pool is so skewered up is not even funny

There have been a couple of really long threads about Houston pool builders that aren't too old, maybe two years ago. I'd look at those, bump one, and continue getting opinions.

we build our pool last year with Backyard Amenities, very very satisfied with their work, always had direct contact with the owner Brad. While getting a bid we never felt under pressure to rush and build, I would definitely recommend him to anyone for their service... we were swimming in about 4-5weeks and that was with a week or two of delays because of rain....

For every good story, you'll hear five bad ones. We have a Platinum pool, going on our fifth summer. Zero issues beyond regular maintenance and wear and tear. We had a pump failure, and a chlorinator failure, both were replaced within days without hassle.

As far as the pool goes, pool and decking look as good as the day they were installed. No cracking, no tile issues, still sits square, no drainage problems.

I would use them again.

You hear that all the time, and it usually has nothing to do with the builder.

Another question could be Hayward vs Pentair since pool builders go with one or the other.

Had my first pool built in 2013 or so, Cody Pools. Was very pleased with them. They stand behind their work, responsive, add an extra year warranty (over manufacturer warr) to anything they install. Pentair products, 10yr warr on plaster, would build with them again.

Thanks for all of your responses. We are thinking about using Hayward products. Do you prefer one over the other?

It wasn't meant as a shot against the builder, as everything works exactly as designed. It has more to do with Houston as a whole and general mechanical failure.

All ours is Jandy.
