I live in a small 800 sq ft apartment on the 2nd floor. I usually have my AC set between 72-78. My monthly bills have been anywhere from $75-90/mo. It seems very expensive. Is this normal? Any cheaper alternatives?

I have used Green mountain in the past for several years and our bill was also around $90-100 for a 850 sqft apartment.
They are definitely more expensive than some of the other companies.

Thanks,

3100 sq/ft early 90s home with single pane windows ... peak summer bill is about $250/month with Green Mountain. This is with a 2 zone 3-4 year old AC system, and kept between 72-76. As predatorprey mentioned, check your actual usage and compare. As far as i'm concerned, GM may not have been the absolute cheapest, but i like having 100% wind power and I wasn't looking at too big a $$ difference vs other plans.

You're overpaying them.

Latest bill was $87.75. 740 KwH used.
Last month was $76.49. 632 KwH used.
One "whopping" charge on the bill was: Centerpoint Energy Delivery Charges- $31.86!!!
What in the world is that???

Maybe it's being on the 2nd floor? Do you have a lot of west-facing windows?

I'm in a small apartment, ground floor. One west-facing window in the bedroom, but by bedtime it's fine.

I keep the temp 75-77 during the day, 72 at night. And I ALWAYS have a fan directed at me. (2 a night)
my bills are $65-70 so far this summer.

Thanks,
Feels good though, don't it?

I mean, they have the word "green" in their company name.

Look at your statement, it should tell you the per kWh charge so that you can compare.

As to the Centerpoint charge, they take care of actually getting the electricity to you (power lines, etc, etc). You will be paying that delivery charge regardless of wherever you get your power.
