Being a Houston newbie, I went outside yesterday for about 10 minutes and emerged with about 20 or so mosquito bites that are driving me crazy. Other than the bug repellant spray (I just bought sawyer insect repellent), how do you guys survive being out by the pool or bbq parties? Do those mosquito spraying companies really work?

To tell you the truth: mosquito problem is actually much better this year here due to a colder than normal spring...

DDT? Are you still living in a third-world country?

I think he may be thinking about DEET. Some people are more prone to mosquito bites than others I have not had any encounters with the pest this year..

I tried many different things/ways over the years. But still find the most effective way is the spray. I currently use products like:

Cutter Backyard Bug Control Spray Concentrate, Water Based - 32 fl oz

OFF! Bug Control Backyard Pretreat 32floz

Spectracide Triazicide Insect Killer For Lawns & Landscapes Concentrate, Ready-to-Spray, 32-Ounce

I use one of these to spray the whole yard, covers everything except food once every couple of weeks during the whole summer time. I can cut down mosquito population to a minimum around my house.

The reason for multiple brands is mosquito will develop immune to one brand pretty fast.

Also try eliminating any scented products, such as perfume, scented soap, etc. I spray my clothes with repellant, including shoes, jackets, try spraying a scarf then tie around your neck, keep re-applying. Good Luck
