In the "mean time", Metro could use the space for HOV lanes.

Do you see Metro wanting to get rid of the HOV lanes at this stage, and replace it with rail? Or do you see TX DOT eager to redo that part of the freeway again? It would be great, but cost-wise, I don't see it. I think it should have been done when they expanded I10.
They've publicly abandoned this and switched it to BRT instead of rail. Which I'm actually ok with because of the rise of automation.

In a loose sense the HOV/HOT lanes are a form of BRT, but without local stations. METRO is actually proposing true urban transit BRT for other corridors now that the Uptown Silver Line is in place.

What's not clear to me is whether the new Inner Katy BRT would have intermediate stations or whether it's just express Downtown - NWTC service. I think it should have stations, like at Houston, Sawyer Yards/Studemont, Heights/Yale, Shepherd/Durham, and Washington/Memorial Park.

Yes they did. They revealed there will be 2 stops, one in Studemont and the other on Shepherd. That's their plans anyway.

I guess 2 is better than none, but I would definitely add Heights / Yale and Washington / Memorial Park. Especially since the Silver Line doesn't have a Memorial Park stop (it's got plenty of other stops however).

It's just too many stations IMO. That red line has to stop every other minute...while people walk faster on the sidewalks...I'm kinda joking but going by the map someone could easily think I'm serious.

If it were up to me, I'd get rid of Bell station. But the rest are fine. Downtown Houston is pretty large.

We should have a lot of stations downtown in order to plan for future possible growth.

I remember from my time in SF that BART had similar station spacing in the Financial District. Really, high-capacity urban transit should have 1/2 mile spacing at most in the densest areas.
