What do you think?
The Woodlands is surely a NICE place to live, but don't believe any of the lists statements.
Google "best city to live in the US" and you will get a plethora of lists and each will be different. (and none mentioned TW)
https://www.today.com/money/best-pla...-world-t193899
https://www.bankrate.com/real-estate...es-to-live/us/
https://www.prnewswire.com/news-rele...301135798.html
https://www.businessinsider.com/us-n...america-2016-3
etc...

Each of those surveys use different criteria, and what is "the best" is highly subjective anyway.

TW is nice, but not very diverse. It doesn't help that the Howard Hughes Corporation is using standard clear cut techniques for new developments.
LOL yep that's Republic Grill. Not a bad place but not memorable at all.

The Woodlands does have a pretty significant affluent Mexican community. A lot do tend to be conservatives and many tend to look more Spaniard than Indigenous though.

Yes, as the cartel violence and kidnappings have spiraled out of control in Mexico, many affluent Mexican nationals (especially business owners) have purchased second homes in The Woodlands and moved their families up here to escape the danger. Interestingly, many of those heads-of-household still keep a residence in Mexico from which they run their businesses.

The Woodlands is very nice. It's too far from Houston for me personally, but if it were maybe 5-10 miles closer it would be more appealing for me. But it is unique for the Houston area in terms of the level of care that went into its planning and how well the plan has held up. I can understand why it would be near or at the top of these lists.

Most mean Black people which is true. White people in the Woodlands as a whole feel MUCH more comfortable with every other minority except Black people.

Truth....as a people, we never let go of our lower SES relatives and they typically come and visit often. The Hispanics in TW are richy rich and intermarry so that's accepted (plus the ones that aren't well....nannies/cleaning ladies/yard men so they're okay too)

And of course any Middle Easterns and Asians. Most don't have low SES family that's looked down on by others.

As a Black woman who could afford TW I have male relatives that the "look" like "oh he was probably doing something wrong".

I'd fit in income wise but would still the coded racism "wow so like you didn't go to TSU????? Really?????? You have NO students loans, your PARENTS could afford to paid for college? Wow" Not all the time but at least once is one too many.

Not to say there are none because there are plenty BUT so scattered and never in a concentration enough to not be a few handfuls in a given area.

Bucklaw Elem - 2019 - 27 AA students. Not in each grade level, the entire KG-4 school
Creekside Elem - 2019 - 12 AA students - whole school
David Elem - 2019 - 19 AA students

That's 58 Black families scattered so there's definitely a "only one in a room" in a LOT of areas.

You're completely opposite here. The Woodlands has a fairly diverse economy. And very little demographic diversity.

LOL Talk about "Predominantly White" neighborhood! No wonder people of colour are uncomfortable, even visiting the mall.

I find this last part ignorant and offensive.

My wife is Hispanic, and her dad's side is mostly Spanish, while her Mom's side is mixed. Her Dad's family treats anyone that looks mixed like scum, and are always quick to tout how much better they are since they are Spanish and not mixed. So, that's not really ignorant. Offensive maybe.

LOL, cry me a river. I'm confused on how that last part was ignorant or offensive.

1. Mexico is a country not a race of people.
2. There are many different genetic variations in Mexico due to the SPANISH CONQUEST OF MEXICO.
3. Majority of Mexicans would be categorized as Mestizos due to the European admixture(pretty much rape in the beginning encounter between the 2 groups) of Indigenous women and European Men.
4. There is a significant amount of affluent Mexicans from Mexico City and surrounding areas that migrated to The Woodlands. Mexico City has a big population of people of Spanish descent and they acknowledge the fact that they're of Spanish descent more so than Indigenous descent.

So sir I'm not the ignorant you clearly are. Maybe you should read a book or watch a documentary or 2. I can hook you up with some information just ask. Bottom line is The Woodlands has a significant amount of Mexican citizens who are more than likely more Spanish than Indigenous or Mestizos. I don't know for sure but going off looks, history and understanding the caste system in Mexico and many different Central American/Latin America countries there more than likely more Spaniard than Indigenous.

What you think Mexico is just one race of people? I blame America's school system for the lack of information on cultures outside of America.
