Lived in TW for many years. Great features relative to other metro Houston areas, though agree it is too far from downtown (though many in TW have no desire or need to go there). Good access to the airport. Howard Hughes has made it "less special" with the unbridled development. Surrounding development is making it less of an island, including more and more pass-thru traffic.

If I lived in TW, I would rarely, if ever venture into Houston. TW has just as many amenities as Houston, if not more so I get why TW residents don't see a need/desire to go into DT Houston.

Not really. Professional baseball, basketball, football, soccer... World class art museums, symphony, ballet, opera, theater, broadway musicals. There are plenty of reasons for suburbanites to come into downtown Houston...and they do!

I was talking about the basics like restaurants & shopping. For sports events and musicals, I would expect suburbanites to come into DT Houston.

There are very few great restaurants in The Woodlands. Lots of bland chain stuff.

Lean more towards families, but the money is there for this to evolve.

This would be me, too. My wants and needs aren't much. But I do want to be near accessible healthcare which the Woodlands has. I would not go into Houston except for cultural or sporting events.

The proximity to IAH probably does make it appealing to expatriate Latin Americans, as mentioned. But yeah, it's a bit far from downtown.
