You should consider Willowbend/Westbury. LOTS of gay and lesbian couples with kids in those neighborhoods. Your budget would also be fine there.

Your child is small so high school may not be a concern. The high school zoned to parts of Westbury is not the best. https://www.houstonisd.org/cms/lib2/...estbury_HS.pdf The elementary and middle schools are good. Houston has several specialty magnet high schools such as Carnegie Vanguard, Debakey and High School for the Visual and Performing Arts and some early college academies, but these are on a lottery system or an audition is required. It is possible to go to a high school out of your zone but it is something to think about. If you can find place in an area zoned to Bellaire High School that is better. https://www.houstonisd.org/cms/lib2/...ellaire_HS.pdf

This is true, though Westbury high school is improving a lot, and many kids in the neighborhood find their way into Bellaire even though they're not zoned. And many start in the music program at Parker Elementary, and end up at the High School for the Performing and visual Arts.

Since it's a long-range problem, I wouldn't base a house buying decision on it. A lot can change in the intervening years.

This. Westbury's best days are ahead of it. By the time the OP's child would be in high school, itll be a completely different high school.

Bellaire's profile at https://www.houstonisd.org/cms/lib2/...laire%20HS.pdf states that it had 201 students who were zoned to Westbury (the school that sends the most students to Bellaire).

HSPVA's profile stated it had 84 zoned to Westbury (third biggest sending zoned school) https://www.houstonisd.org/cms/lib2/.../025_HSPVA.pdf

Westbury's profile states that Bellaire is the school that receives the most Westbury students other than Westbury itself https://www.houstonisd.org/cms/lib2/...tbury%20HS.pdf
