The stack interchange is a Texan flagship. I think Texas alone has more stack interchanges than the entire country combined.

30 years ago I was told it cost a million dollars to lay one mile of track. That is just the roadbed and ties with rail. As to a protected vehicular crossing…….The electronics alone for each crossing is over $100,000. What do you think it costs today?

According to an editorial in the Chronicle today, capital costs for the HSR line went from an initial $10 billion to $30 billion at last estimate. The Japanese government pulled its investment out.
