It’s not far from Montrose so I imagine it is lgbt friendly.

We are a gay family in Meyerland/77096, which is quite LGBT-friendly. West U, Bellaire, etc., are adjacent, and the residents tend to run in similar circles. West U is maybe a tick more conservative, but still would be left of center (or at least live-and-let-live).

Really, everywhere inside the 610 loop (freeway) is pretty LGBT-friendly, even the perceived "stuffier"/richer areas like River Oaks/Afton Oaks/West U. Is West U a gay stronghold like some other parts of inside 610? Not really, although there certainly are some gay residents of course. There's actually not many parts of Houston that are not at least mostly gay-friendly, or at worst very gay-tolerant, albeit for maybe a few parts in the boonies or "hoods". Gay ppl in Houston are pretty spread out these days, they're still in slightly greater concentrations in & around Montrose (especially older gay crowds), but it is a far cry from the "gayborhood" days where every gay guy would flock to one part of the city. I've found this is also the case in many of the south & sunbelt cities today.

I was doing past election calculations and found the TX Amendment 2 to ban same-sex marriage in 2005!!! The City of West U voted AGAINST the ban 52-48% and that was 16 years ago. To keep in perspective, Harris County voted 70% in FAVOR of the ban, and Texas voted 76% in FAVOR. You can only imagine how many support now.

That's quite nice! Seems like I should not totally lose faith in Harris County

By now, the result would be flipped by quite a bit. I mean Harris County is a pretty solidly blue county and most residents favor LGBT rights. It's not like it was then. Ironically, the areas most opposed at that time to gay marriage were the most Dem areas. West U was extremely Republican but socially liberal.

West U is filled with high income doctors and lawyers. Most of the residents are fiscally conservative but socially liberal. The state rep for the area, Democrat Ann Johnson, is gay. https://www.annjohnson.com

Yes, and the state rep before Ann Johnson, Sarah Davis, is extremely moderate. Definitely a RINO as most people would view her. Pro-choice, pro-LGBT Republican.
