There are tons of dim sum places in Houston. Most are quite good.

As for Mongolian and Sushi, youll probably have to go to two different restaurants. Houston isnt going to be like many cities with smaller Asian communities where many different types of Asian food is combined into one. If you want Chinese in Houston, you have to specify a type of Chinese you want. You have to decide between Cantonese, Szechuanese, Shanghainese, etc.

For sushi, youll have to go to a Japanese restaurant.

Those types of places do exist, but they’re always best when separate in my opinion.

But why would you go to a buffet if you want authentic food?

Don't know if it is the same developer, but there is barely anything opened there. There are 2 restaurants and 1 boba shop. The rest are all close or under construction (as they have been before COVID).

There is no sugar land Chinatown. There is bunch of Asian businesses around hwy 6, mostly around that the Ranch 99/Justgo shopping Center and the Welfresh Supermarket center.

Not sure if a duplicate Chinatown of sorts in Sugar Land will take off, given it’s close proximity and easy accessibility to Houston’s, as well as its smaller customer base.

Recent improvements to Houston’s Chinatown in both aesthetics and new, more modern, diverse businesses appeal to a wider demographic across the Houston metro.

Katy Asian Town was able to take off because of location. Alief is quite a drive from the booming western edge. The freeway intersection helps draw people from Cypress and Memorial.

First Colony is the closest suburb to Houston, which is a positive. But negative aspects coincide with being too close to superior shopping in The Galleria (not good for the mall or Sugar Land sales tax revenues) and too close to Alief's Chinatown.

Ironically I go to Pho Saigon on Mason Road for my fix. Mason Road is starting to shift to more Vietnamese businesses--perhaps this strip will be dubbed the metro's Viet Town?
