Houston is currently in the midst of Houston Restaurant Weeks until Sept 6. Many Houston restaurants participate in this charity by offering set multi course lunches for $20 and dinners for $35/$49. A couple of those mentioned, and many more nearby, are participating and this may be a good opportunity to try them out without breaking the bank, if you get a chance.
Thanks I ate at Steak 48 and it was awesome. I also tried Bayou City Seafood and Pasta.

I really enjoyed the city thank you. As far as walkability, it was OK in my area for a few blocks. However, I realized as someone mentioned that not having a car causes you to miss out on some great other parts of the city. Also, the traffic near the Galleria was extremely heavy and a nuisance if you are not visiting the mall. Next time I'm looking into staying at The Heights or Midtown or maybe Montrose.

Let us know when you’re returning. There’s many facets to Houston. We like to staycation around the city ourselves from time to time and enjoy the different flavors of each part of town. The Montrose/Museum area is lovely, green and walkable.

If I were going to do Houston as a tourist, I'd pick a district and fully explore it. The days when downtown mattered are kind of over; each area has its own lifestyle and highlights now.
