It won’t be Austin but it is rapidly becoming a hub.

I think it depends on how you view Mecca. It’s not going to be SF, Boston, or Austin.

Yeah I agree. I’m happy Houston is making very impressive strides especially in 5G, biotech, clouding and some other fields. But it won’t be these 3 or even Nashville.

I think it could match a place like Denver or MSP.

I'd just be happy being more of a tech hub than Dallas. Not sure we are there yet.

Rice University has something up it’s sleeves. This is what I like about having Rice. It quickly goes from not having a presence in a particular field to being top 10 in that field in a few years. I guess Compaq which is now the HP and HPE combo. It’s just funny how this originated from TI engineers.

I don’t care for competing for being a bigger tech hub. I’m happy that it’s happening as it is. Both are dominating in different fields. Dallas is leasing the way in data sciences. Houston is leads in start ups. The emergence of Crown Castle is in my opinion the biggest technology related win here since Compaq. They’re the reasons 5G was pioneered here and attracting self driving companies like NURO. This is the most underrated recent business achievement here.

And another game changer that I was happy to see was NOV winning the contract for Sofia’s offshore wind farm. It sounds like a joke, but Gulf Coast Hurricanes have the potential to supply a lot of wind energy if it can be stored. Transitioning oil field services to offshore wind farm services is a w

I couldn’t access the original link but the article popped up on my feed:

I know this is off-topic but didn’t want to start a new thread. PS did you see this?
