On that we can agree. For me, one is worse than the other.

ha ha ha... this is excellent. "backed by Soros," please show your evidence. I love the idea that George Soros is behind everything that happens that's not Republican. And even if he were, so what?

And then the real brilliant logical deduction: "That is why crime is out of control." As though the small print on any Soros check says "must be used to fund acceleration of crime."

come on, this doesn't even make sense. It's fine to hate liberals, but can't you be a little smarter in your attempted take-down?

First, where's the evidence that Hidalgo is backed by Soros?

Second, You have zero real evidence whatsoever that being backed by Soros causes crime. That's honestly one of the stupidest cause and effect claims in history.

Maybe you could start a movement to increase our taxes so we could build more jails.

As one that works with and has a few Latin people that have married into his family...I know exactly why many Latinos vote GOP.

Many of them have pretty conservative views on the whole. They are pro-capitalism, they love their guns and pickup trucks and are not cool with others telling them what to do or think. Many are staunch Catholics as well and that has to factor into the reason. They have strong feelings about the importance of traditional family values as well and believe strongly in the family unit as a whole.

Some still have family that lives in a country that has an authoritative, controlling govt that is corrupt and they see those same traits in today's democrat party and want no part of it. They have seen heavy govt control first hand in many cases.

Texas Monthly's liberal writers may not "get it" but I am pretty sure I know why so many want nothing to do with democrats or their policies.

I wont' be surprised if Republicans take back at least some of the Judge positions in Harris County. Anyone whose been affected by the obvious and real increases in violent crime, will link it to democrats sweeping and vote the other direction. It doesn't matter if Lina isn't as fault (she isn't), while I doubt she will lose, all it takes is one of these felony bond criminals to commit some sort of mass shooting, and it will be a wrap for democrats in semi-competitive districts.
