The Woodlands is patrolled by Montgomery County Sheriffs Office. The Township has nothing to do with policing.

Sugarland and Woodlands meet all of those criteria as well. I wouldn't have been considering them otherwise.

I think the answer has more to do with the socioeconomic make-up of Katy. For instance, the per capita income in Sugar Land is nearly 40% higher than Katy. Sugar Land also has 60% of college grads vs 40% in Katy.

I never said the township had anything to do with policing and you are stating the obvious. What I said was TW is a township/the crown jewel of MoCo, so there are more policing efforts there vs unincorporated Greater Katy. I guarantee you TW has more patrol frequencies than unincorp Katy, and thats not only due to the differences in county sheriffs (because next you'd state another obvious point that TW and Katy are in different counties because thats what you do lol).

You are correct. The Woodlands and (unincorporated) Katy area are both patrol by county sheriff, but there's a big difference on how The Woodlands is being taken care of.

Correction: county sheriffs (plural). Katy ISD is in 3 counties.

Did someone mention Katy ISD? I must have overlooked this. Regardless what counties we’re including, no unincorporated wasteland will have that same coverage as The Woodlands.

I'm substituting Katy ISD for "unincorporated Katy" since in practical conversational terms they're nearly the same, despite the small area covered by the incorporated City of Katy.

And what special effort do you think MoCo is making in The Woodlands? Are you sure that whatever enhanced public safety services are being provided there aren't just HOAs paying more like they do elsewhere in the region?

What statistics are you using. 77494 has more people than Sugar Land and has a higher income, and that’s roughly 1/3 of Katy’s population. While the other zip codes aren’t as wealthy, non of them drag the average below 100,000 for the Katy area in my opinion.

Sugar Land- 111,000 people, $120,000 median income
77494- 118,000 people, $135,000
77450- 73,000 people, $100,000
77449 (partially Katy ISD)- 128,000 people, $80,000 median income
77493- 36,000 people, $91,000
77084 (partially Katy ISD)- 107,000, $64,000 people
77094- 10,000 people, $180,000

These 6 zip codes make up Katy ISD. I ranked them roughly by population inside Katy ISD. Hence 77449 which has like half its population and 77084 which has like a 1/3 of its population in Katy ISD are ranked lower.

I used the world population review website. I did not do a deep dive into the statistics but they appear to be sourced from census data.

Katy: https://worldpopulationreview.com/us...-tx-population

Sugar Land: https://worldpopulationreview.com/us...-tx-population

Yeah it’s accurate to the city of Katy. But when comparing Katy and Sugar Land we are talking about the Greater Katy Area vs. the Sugar Land area. The only difference between the city of Sugar Land and Greater Sugar Land is some neighborhoods like Riverstone and Woodbridge.

Katy city limits on the other hand is 1/12th the population of the Greater Area, and thus it isn’t a 1:1 comparison. Because when we are talking about Katy we are almost exclusively talking about the 92-93% of people who claim to live in Katy and live outside of the city limits.
