I was watching the movie Groupier by Clive Owen,a woman comes in with 3K chips,no win no gain, she went back to the cage ,turn in her chips and got a 3k casino check, thats money laundering.
BACK THEN middle class Venezuelans who have credit cards can buy a ticket to Aruba(Venezuelan citizens are allowed to enter the country with $3000),they go to the casino and use their Venezuelan credit card to buy 3000 dollars worth of chips.
They either sit at the bar with a drink or walk on the beach, then return to the casino and cash in their chips ,return home with $3k cash.
Now when their cc statement comes at monthend,it shows they need to pay back Bolivar equivalent of US$3K.USING the official exchange rate lets say it is 100,000 bolivars.
But the black market rate is much lower,so the guy is able to buy 100,000 bolivar with US$1600.
SO what is the end result-he gets a free vacation plus US$1400.
Do this once a week, and you make $70K in a year.(sounds too good to be true if he can do this every week)
I dont know what is going on now,as the bolivar has gone thru the toilet,I heard Argentinians were doing it,so were the Mexicans at one time.

Don’t go into that topic,
It took me a long time to understand that mess
But what you said it’s true, around 2012-2014, Venezuelans could travel to other countries, find a business that would let them get cash back from their credit card, and at end, they would end up with a free vacation and cash in their hands.

Fertitta’s new property on the Vegas strip that will be “ultra high end” is looking like it will be branded a Post Oak Hotel (same as his hotel in Uptown Houston).

I wonder if given a future of Texas legal gambling does occur, would he add a casino to the property or open something else elsewhere? He also owns the Westin Hotel next to the Convention Center which would be a prime location to be rebranded Golden Nugget or something else.
