We heard a range of opinions regarding our zoned elementary school. Some parents loved it, some expressed frustration that their children were bored to death while their teachers were focused on children who were struggling to keep up.
You're spot on with that specific elementary. Both our kids go there and there is an element of boredom. It's a good school and there are some good teachers, but you're right they cater to lower performing students. But many kids from the hood and surrounding areas go there so they have alot of friends. I need to keep them engaged outside of school with other challenges. My daughter summarized this morning - "2nd grade is just a review of 1st grade and I already know all of it".

We're looking forward to MS and HS, but are dreading the commute. We did consider Katy mostly because of the commute, but still up in the air. Moving east into 77079 or even 77024 is not an option right now.
