We are looking into a home in Sugar Land. Home is located in Commonwealth estates.
It is located in Clements High School.
Is this a good community?
Is this a good location for access to highways, parks, stores, and restaurants?

What are other communities we should consider in Sugar Land?

We looked at Cypress, Katy and Woodlands as well but are leaning towards Sugar Land due to commuting. Our jobs are currently remote but may have jobs in downtown in the future.

Really nice area - I grew up there in the 90s. Good-sized lots, mature trees, all are Perry Homes. I remember back when you could buy 5,000 sq ft out there for $375k - those were the good ol' days. I think it's a little nicer than First Colony. But, for the price of Commonwealth Estates, you could get a full-custom home in the older section of Sweetwater.

I never saw those days. Good ole days for me were when you could get a ~3500 sft in "good areas" of First Colony for low $400s, such as Oaks at Alcorn. Commonwealth was mid $400s for ~3500 sft. Those days are long gone.

Well the house I was thinking of (on St Michael's Ct) sold in 2004-ish for $370k. It's Zillow estimate is now $785k....and I was wrong, it was 5,500 sq ft lol. My parents built a new house in First Colony in the early 90s off Lexington and Sweetwater. 3000 sqft cost $168k. New homes were being built in Sutton Forest (next to Commonwealth estates), starting in the $250s. I'd still take 7% mortgage rates for those prices in that area today hahaha.
