Oh man. This is a 100% no brainer. Costco all day every day.

With Costco, you get excellent prices, free installation on most appliances, 90 day no question ask return or exchange policy, 30 day price drop match guarantee, extended manufacturers warranty by one year, and additional 2 year of warranty if you use the Costco credit card. I have found all of the delivery people to be very professional and did a great job installing the appliances.

The only delta for Costco is their selection is more limited than HD, Lowes, etc but I have been able to find a great choice for pretty much every appliance in my home.

Every one of these companies use outside installation sub-contractors (I used to be in that business myself). Some are good, some are great, a few are not so good. Hopefully, a company like Costco has weeded out the poor performers over time. There is no way to tell who you will get. They don't even know until it's scheduled.

One last tip: I know you've looked at the big box stores (Costco, Best Buy, etc). Have you tried any of the major appliance distributors. A few sell direct to consumers. Give Factory Builder Store a call, see if they have what you want. Prices are often very competitive with retail, and their installers tend to be top-notch, since they use them all the time.

I"ve done Costco recently and Best Buy in the past.
Costco hands down for warranty and cash back, especially if you have their credit card.
Delivery was smooth with Costco's partner.

Best Buy isn't bad, depends... I had a washer/dryer installed, went ok.
Had a overhead microwave installed and it went terrible. Guy hacked up my cabinet and acted like nothing happened. Had to file a claim so they could reimburse repairs.

Ordered our washer and dryer from Costco (Whirlpool front loaders).

Price was great. No complaints with Costco customer service or delivery (we had a slightly tricky install as our laundry room is upstairs, but delivery crew didn't complain and was very careful).

The washing machine was disappointing (first one was very noisy). Costco first sent a repair tech (presumably contracted out) and after the noise returned a month later they replaced the entire machine without complaint. Overall they were easy to deal with.

Just got the refrigerator installed from Costco and while not terrible, it was not great. They didn't damage the house or door, but they didn't install one refrigerator door right. The left door keeps closing automatically - its really annoying.

They refused to respond to texts/calls. It is really annoying. Now we have a new refrigerator that we cannot use until that is fixed. I really don't have time to deal with this.

Why can't you use the refrigerator? Just hold the door open while getting things out or putting them in.

I can do that, but others in my family, such as young kids, elderly I see being an issue. The same models in the store don't have this issue. Either they didn't do something right at installation or the door/hinge is defective. The other one seems fine.

I don't want to fix myself, since I don't know what I'm doing and don't want to make worse or violate warranty.

The manual clearly says to take everything out and unplug when making adjustments.

We contacted Costco, and they are sending someone out to address this.

If you are not happy with their solution then you can return the refrigerator within the first 90 days. I have exchanged 2 different fridges with Costco and they were great. Good luck ever getting that type of service from Best Buy or HD.

My frig does that. I have to hold the door open. Never thought it was installed wrong.

But, if I go off and leave it open it starts beeping .

IIRC, the frig has instructions for hanging the doors. DH has had to reverse the door on my garage frig a couple times. I keep moving it from the garage to the utility room, then back to the garage again.

We finally bought a washer and dryer. The 5 yo one rusted around the bleach dispenser. And I thought after 75 years of doing laundry we should have a dryer that matches the washer. Shop all over, every store.

Nobody knows anything about what they are selling. They are all just order takers.

Tried Lowe's. The sales, delivery and installation people never spoke and were on different schedules. Keep giving us conflicting delivery dates from I'm on my way, 12 hours too early, so we waited half the day. Then the call telling us we don't have that in stock, it'll be a month late. Cancelled that.

Will report on Home depot Thursday. Can't stand that place. But they had the model of American owned and made we wanted.
