Before the recession yes, California was clearly the top destination, but now its domination is certainly weaker.I guess Texas and Washington must have more of them now.

Houston and DFW passed Philly a long time ago.

From LA, for every Asian that leaves, many more come. LA will always be the undisputed king of Asian immigration.

As for Vegas, the only significant Asian community there is the Filipino one. That is HUGE. About twice the size of Houstons. That probably wont change. A very large number are in the gambleing industry as dealers and work for the hotels. They still come to Vegas and as the economy recovers there, that will excelerate. Vegas doesnt have another significant Asian community.

In this case, Texas is looking hot for Pakistani immigrants. It goes toe to toe with California.
Houston caught up to Chicago. They are tied for 2nd.

I always thought San Jose was #1 for Vietnamese.

Houston and Chicago seems tied for 2nd.

No, Orange County is #1 for Vietnamese followed by The Bay Area (mostly San Jose). Houston is #3, DFW is #4, and DC is #5. Chicago is far down the list.

Houston has a large Filipino population because of its medical & engineering sectors. They also like being close to the ocean. The Philippines consists of 7,107 islands. The huge Roman Catholic presence in Houston is also another reason. A lot of Vietnamese are Catholics too.

Los Angeles - 7.3 million
San Francisco - 3.9m
Honolulu - 3.7m
Guam - 2.6m
New York (JFK and Newark) - 2.3m
Chicago - 1.9m
Detroit - 1.2m
Seattle - 0.8m
Washington DC - 0.8m
Boston - 0.7m
Las Vegas - 0.7m
Houston - 0.5m
Dallas/Fort Worth - 0.48m
Philadelpha - 0.4m
Miami (FLL and MIA) - 0.35m
Atlanta - 0.3 (mostly to Korea and Japan)

I had my numbers a bit off, but Detroit is almost the same size as the DFW, Houston, Atlanta, and Miami's Asia air traffic markets.
Do you know if they'll be seeing a larger base for Detroit in a future tense. For marketing and sales, that must have been a sweep profit for them considering others didn't do the same. I can see them making a lot off that.

Detroit is healing economically with more involvement from GM, would that make even a marginal difference to this and how they go about it with their links to Asia?
