My husband and I are moving to Katy from Abilene after the birth of our son in two weeks. We're both twenty years old, and anxious to know what kind of area Katy is, concerning activities, weather, and just everything in general.

I'm just curious to know about the area from people who actually live there or have at least visited.

Smile Moving to Katy area

Hi,

I will try to answer what ever questions I can about the Katy area. I grew up in old town Katy. I tried to move away, but what can I say, Katy is home. The area is very friendly. I am also a Realtor and have worked for KISD for 18 years. I can tell you about the schools boundary lines and the location of the schools. I can answer questions about the MUD districts and the HOA info. for the neighborhoods.

You have to be informed about the extra cost that come with some of the new neighborhoods being built.

Move south of IH10. The area is nicer. I grew up in Katy, both myself and my wife. Have you already found a house you like?

Default Katy area.

Just trying to be honest. Not everyone has a fat wallet to buy a home. Sorry, if I offended anyone. I just hate seeing someone lose their home because they got in over their head.

What would you consider to be the best high school and middle/junior high school in Katy?

Seven Lakes, Cinco Ranch and Taylor

That is what the statistics show. Most people will agree.

"Cinco Ranch's well-rounded year in sports was capped off with an eighth-place finish in the UIL Lone Star Cup final standings, which were released this week."

Katy Times Online (http://www.katytimes.com/articles/2007/07/04/sports/02%20lonestar.txt - broken link)

Everyone will have a different opinion on this one, however.

It is hard to say which school is the best. If your child is into football, then Katy High is the place to be. They have a great football team. Katy ISD's curriculum is really hard.

I guess what it boils down to is, how well the teachers teach their class. If your child doesn't like the teacher, then they have a harder time.

Katy is nice however do NOT allow your children to write anything on the walls in their schools and never ever mention Elrod Place.

Its difficult to think that some people think, its a negative that the district does not allow children to write on the walls of our schools. Maybe the students need to be reminded what paper is for.
