I think you can definitely find the artsy/afrocentric cute black chic around Houston. The same goes for the men. There are so many different types of black people but you do have to remember that you are going to run into many that have that "southern" vibe because of it's location. But please don't confuse that with being ghetto. Midtown is a great area to live along with other areas that are close to downtown and the museum/artsy districts. There are also a lot of events such as plays, poetry nights, and small laid back afrocentric hotspots where you can meet plenty of people just like you. Of course I would also recommend places like Atlanta, Chicago, or NY if you are looking for the same vibe.
