It's a good thing they're getting this done now instead of hurricane season.

Wow - Glad I didn't head that way yesterday. I usually take side streets anyway because I'm always stopping here and there along the way to wherever I am going.

Do you think it will continue next weekend? It is Mardi Gras next weekend! It took us over two hours to get to the beach on Saturday and I cut over to hwy3 to bypass the construction. Next week I will take Pearland Pkwy to 518 to 2351 if there is still construction.

I wonder what it takes to be listed as a "Hot Spot" on Houston TransStar's Incidents/Road Closures?
That was a complete nightmare. I guess it is to be expected with txdot.

Highway 3 backs up horribly at the lights whenever 45 is backed-up - turns into a no win situation.

Hi, do you know the side streets heading to Galveston? I have lived here all of my life and don't know them. I do know all of the back streets here in central Houston and that is a big plus...you will never see me sitting on I-10!!!

I love to ride my motorcycle to Galveston. I did this about 2 weeks ago on a Thurs with no problem getting there in the middle of the afternoon but getting back to Houston took 2 freaking hours! I ended up jumping of the toll way just to get of 45!

Could you or ANYONE share them with us if you know them?

By motorcycle it is a nice ride to take 146 all the way past Kemah and then hit 45 near Bayou Vista. You miss all the congestion.

I think 146 may turn into Hwy 6 right at 45. When coming from Kemah and following 146, it sort of splits a couple of time and I honestly can't remember if you hug left or hug right but you should be able to follow the signage. Lots of bikers take that route to Galveston.
