So continuing on from a walk through River Oaks it's time to head to Montrose.

The crowds were already gathering this far west and off Westheimer, at Harold and Hazard streets.

This is where the floats were being set up for the parade.

I didn't actually stay for the parade, just to get that out there so nobody's let down. My camera doesn't do too well at night, especially not with legions of faces and motion in the frame. The results have a, shall we say, psychedelic quality about them. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Speaking of not-that-there's-anything-wrong-with-that...let's continue.

They should keep those barriers up all the time to protect people from the idiots who don't know how to navigate the curve.

Not here. Besides, Liquid is closed now.

mmm jager

Straight couples were welcome here as well.

Stop the presses - I used to walk by the Tremont Tower almost every day and this is the first time I've ever seen anyone on the balconies.

Warning - actually getting barefoot out here is not advisable.

lol Jack in the Crack. I hope they never fix this sign.

Damn, and I was going for a flush. I fold.

rut-roh.

Trying to see what happened, but it's hard to see through the crowds.

This whole thing transcends "gay." Everyone mixes here.

And the parade went on...anyone who has pictures is welcome to post.

We were driving through there yesterday and wondered why the streets were blocked. It didn't even occur to me that it was the pride parade. If I would've known we would've hung out for a bit. It had the old Westheimer street festival vibe to it. Nice pics jfre!

Default Westheimer street festival was more wild..

I remember they used to shutdown the whole street, I see barracades here with traffic flowing as if nothing. I liked the pedestrian only streets myself. We used to tow a wagon full of beer, those were some fun times. Too bad infighting put an end to that festival as it was, and what they have now is too tame, not the same as back in the 80s.

More crawling than flowing.

The yuppies thought WestFest was too noisy and crowded so they got it neutered. Welcome to the new Montrose.

Pride Parade? Why isn't it called the Gay Pride Parade? just wondering.
