I got one of these 1 year ago and the fine was $70.00 if you pay it by the due date; otherwise it's more!

Do you think the fine for right on red would be different than left on red?
No.

The "No Right On Red" sign probably makes that so.

I won't say that I don't run reds, but if there's a camera, I best be in that intersection when that light is yellow. You're only toast when that light is already red and you cross into the intersection.

That or city policy is lying to me and I'm well overdue for a few tickets.

Hubby got one up here in Humble and it cost us $75! 4 way intersection no cArs other than us. Red light he turned right without coming to a complete stop even though there were no other cars around.

From the description you give, I don't think you have anything to worry about. The only red light camera at that intersection looks like it is set up to catch people on the southbound freeway service road who run the light at Williams Trace. While the camera can "see" the traffic on Williams Trace that crosses, or turns at, the freeway, there are no detectors set up to set the camera off for anyone running that red light.

I've noticed that all of the red light cameras in SL appear to be, at least occasionally, being set off by cars turning left with the green light. It happens regularly, and from what I've observed I think the system is catching the movement of the first cars going left on green as actually being a car going straight through a red on the cross street. When you turn, the last part of your turn mimics a car going straight through the intersection. I think the system's sensors pick up that movement and take a photo and video. It's happened to me at least twice that I know (saw the flash) and I've never received a ticket for it. What I have seen of the system makes me believe that those are probably just ignored when the police review the video. If you do receive a ticket, I think it would be easy to overcome just by watching the video.

I go thru the light at Eledridge and West Airport and I see the light flashing very often, and most of the time a car is not even passing, and the light keeps flashing.

my opinion West Airport and Eldridge camera timing is fixed it was green then suddenly orange then there was no time between orange and red it was too late for two car mine and someone else. local news commented about this business of changing the orange light to red light too fast. I read a lot about online as well, what a scam, I was planning to add my self to the record so they change the timing which is really the issue.

Whats an orange light mean? I have not seen one of those, even at W. Airport and Eldridge! Just Red, Yellow, and Green!

It is a civil offense....fine only. Absolutely no way they can do anything with those handcuffs for not paying. They will threaten you with putting a block on your registration, etc, but the reality is that the State legislature never passed a law allowing that to occur...SO - the fine is voluntary only.

It can not be used against you on collections, it can not be used to prevent your vehicle from being registered, it can not prevent your from renewing your drivers license.

I have never gotten one, but I sure as heck would not pay one if I did. I know our company does not pay them when a driver is issued one....We reprimand the drivers, but we are not going to pay a ticket for it unless a police officer writes it himself.

Not necessarily true anymore, on Oct 21st, Sugar Land passed an agreement with TDMV to enforce vehicle registration holds on those who don't pay their red light tickets.
