Thank you everybody for your input.
I have found out that DH offices are on the corner on Clay Rd and Sam Houston Pkwy. We have been studying the map trying to find all the place everybody have mentioned but obviously have no clue how it related to in distance and what the intersections/traffic lights are like.
Just wish we can get over there so that we can start exploring.

Forget my earlier post...try Memorial, Spring, Champions, Katy or even Tomball. Lots of threads on those areas here.

Have you been on HAR.com - you can select your area eg. West or North West and look for residential leases in that area - you can click on the map it function and see exactly where the property is.

Yes, I am familiar with HAR but make it a bit difficult if you dont have any idea what the neighborhood is like. I had a look at Mr. Football's photos of Longwood and absolutely love it.

Sounds like West of town. My neighbor works off of Clay Rd & Beltway 8... we live in Cinco Ranch.

There are many UK folks living in this "South Katy" part of town... so in that regard, you may enjoy that.

Longwood/Cypress is pretty, we used to live up that way but the 290 to Beltway 8 commute steadily got worse as the years went by. When it came time to *move up* from our starter home, we opted for Katy. We live just as far away from my husband's job in the Westchase area, with a less frustrating commute.

Both area have great schools/ family friendly/ pretty suburbs, etc...

Here's a point of reference--Memorial City Shopping Mall is just off of I-10 West and Gessner Road. It's about 5 or 6 miles from Clay Rd and Sam Houston Pkwy.

(An aside: people will use Sam Houston [Pkwy], [Tollway], [Beltway] interchangeably sometimes but just know the tollway is the actual freeway portion while the beltway is the feeder roads that run alongside.)

Without knowing your price range I can tell you that the areas directly south and to the east of the mall are very desirable places to live but they are pricey. This area also includes small incorporated villages that you may want to check out: Hedwig Village, Bunker Hill Village, Piney Point Village and Hunters Creek Village. Memorial Drive Elementary School is in the area. This area is apart of the Memorial Super Neighborhood--this link has more info. SN #16 (http://www.houstontx.gov/planning/suprnbhds/TechCntrInfo/SN_16.htm - broken link).

C.

There are several nice areas that wouldn't be much of a commute...off of Eldridge or up 290. Since he'll be exiting on the Beltway, it wouldn't be that bad coming in on 290. Just stay away from Spring ISD.
