If only it taxed stupid people or if it only taxed lawbreakers, the cameras ticket innocent people every single day, that's exactly what they were designed to do.

That's me, I get around too. Following the law is no protection against getting a camera ticket, then, if you are innocent you have to go in and prove your innocence, wholy un american. People who weren't even driving the vehicle get ticketed everyday, what law did they break? What law did the thousands of people trapped under an illegally short yellow light break? What law did the people that get a ticket with a completely different vehicle in the picture break? All they were guilty of is having a similar license plate to what they photographed, it's a scam pure and simple.

Actually the state law requires a city to create an ordinance before it can use red light cameras. There also has to be traffic studies, etc. before they can be installed at any intersection. Every offense is reviewed by a police officer and approved before it is mailed out. And no, it doesn't matter how many times you explain that the red light is the one fartherest to the left on a signal head, if they don't want to hear it, they don't understand.

If this is true that an officer has to approve the ticket before being mailed then this is a blatant sign of incompetence! In my ticket video and all pictures the sunrise COMPLETLEY blocks all visioin of the light I supposedly ran. You can not see whatsoever any one of the lights of the intersection. How could an officer approve this ticket with nothing to see? I will be contesting this ticket for sure! Anyone using the intersection of 290 and FM 529 in Jersey Village regularly...WATCH OUT!! This light is nothing but a money maker for the city. I also received a ticket for being stuck behind a tractor trailer at the SAME light. This picture CLEARLY showed i was behind the tractor trailer. At the violation info site it states "any motorist caught turning in the middle of an intersection WILL NOT be considered a red light violator"..yet I still recieved a ticket for this as well...must have been the same officer "approving" this ticket also!

old thread and i dont know if he was speaking about only mailed traffic tickets for getting caught by a camera but you so can get arrested for unpaid tickets. they put out a warrant and if you are stopped they will haul you in.

ive run background checks and with local law enforcement itll show a warrant is issued. and ive had clients arrested, photo taken for unpaid tickets. this particular person spent 3 days in jail versus paying

Yes, you can get arrested for unpaid tickets. A camera ticket is not a "ticket" it is a "notice of violation" of a city ordinance. The law specifically says you cannot be arrested for not paying a camera ticket.

I did not realize that is a ticket when turn right at the red light. I had 2 tickets in the same location. I may have more tickets in the next few weeks.
I completely agree with the title of this forum.
Any way, the government's budget is low and they need more money from tax payers.
