Anyone have any new gossip on new or potential developments in the Katy area?
  • The Grand Mall at SH-99 & I-10 - From what Ive been reading this proposed mall is dead. They took down the signs a few months back
  • Katy Mainstreet - I drive by this place once a week and it looks like it has stalled. It appear they were in the process of clearing land.
  • Water Park at Westgreen & I-10? I read on another forum that there is suppose to be a waterpark in the works.
  • KBR headquarters and I-10 & 99 - Is this dead also?
I also hope someone brings a Barnes & Nobles to the 1093 & 99 area so I dont have to drive to West Oaks for B&N. Some more restaurants in that area would be nice too

In this economy I wouldn't be expecting any major retail developments to start anytime soon. All projects mentioned are on hold. The guy proposing the water park has been trying to get a similar themed park in Houston since the 80's. Who knows if this one will pan out.

From 1093/99 the drive to Barnes and Noble is about 10 minutes (it is exactly 17 minutes from my house and it takes me about 7 minutes to get from my garage to 1093 and 99). This is if you get on Westpark tollway then get off at the Barker Cypress exit.

I heard that more restaurant chains would be coming to the area around the new walmart just south of 1093.

I think they were due to move in 2010. I haven't heard if this has changed.

Oh no, that KBR project is totally on hold. No 2010 move in anymore.

I did hear that the Main Street project had just started moving again.

A local Costco marketing rep told me twice (at two different events)
recently that they are going to build a new Costco warehouse on
Grand Pkwy here in Katy. No specifics on location given, but said
contruction work should start in 2010. It would be nice to have a
location here on the west side. Save us from driving 50 miles R/T
to the Bunker Hill store!

There was supposed to be a Lowes at the corner of 99 and 1093 but I've seen no movement whatsoever on that parcel of land....so who knows!

I drove through the area on I-10 coming back from San Antonio and was sickened at the crap lining the freeway all the way into town. It looks like Katy and its environs are already saturated with enough junky retail.

I just want to see a gas station on 1093 on the West side of 99. A new movie theater on this south side would be nice as well along with some restaurants like Carrinos, TGI Fridays, Fudruckers, Saltgrass, etc...
